5 months old!

Baby girl is 5 months old now :) We've had a month full of cuddles, screeching (in a good way) and adventures.

Weight - somewhere in the neighborhood of 13lbs
Clothes - we're still wearing 3 month clothes, I think we'll get at least another month's worth out of this size
Diapers - we haven't been in disposables for over a month now - we're fulltime in cloth diapers at the moment
Sleep - still sleeping through the night :) What's the secret? Swaddling! We reswaddled her around 3 months, and since then, she's been sleeping like a champ. A few days ago we tried unswaddling her, but that was a no-go.
Eating - Still nursing :) I like to feed her about every 3 hours (6x a day). My parents babysat last night and gave her a 4oz bottle. She drank it all, but cried the whole time (she hadn't had a bottle in over a month). We'll start solid food soon!
Likes - bath time, sitting up like a big girl, smiling, visiting people, peekaboo, hair accessories (ok, so this is a mommy thing, but with all this gorgeous hair, it's hard to resist!), shoving her fingers in her mouth
Dislikes - prolonged tummy time, not being the center of attention (hasn't changed from last month!)
New tricks - Eva learned to roll from her back to her front shortly after 4 months - in fact, these days, if you set her down on her back, she'll almost always promptly roll to her belly! She's also in the habit of barrel rolling across the family room - if I set her down while I wash dishes and come back 5 minutes later, she's half way across the room! She's also sitting independently very nicely - she can sit for several minutes, look up and down, side to side, and correct herself if she doesn't tip too far :)

We still don't have an established nap routine, and I know I say we'll work on it, so we'll work on it! We'll also work on holding things!

And pictures :)

4 months old!

My pretty little Eva is now 4 months old! Or technically 4.5 months old as of this blog post. She's grown so much already and her personality is shining through. She's a happy, chatty, chubby baby!

Weight - 12 pounds, 5oz (20%), I find this small because Eva looks so adorably chubby :)
Clothes - still holding strong in 3 month clothes. 6 month clothes are still too big for this little princess!
Diapers - size 2 disposeables (really should be size 1, but I don't want to buy any more disposeables since we're nearly full time in cloth) and the smallest setting for cloth
Sleep - has been sleeping through the night for over a month now - we have our last feeding around 9/9:30pm, then she goes down until 6am the next morning. Sometimes Eva will cry in the middle of the night, but we just give her a pacifier and things quiet down. We don't have much of a napping schedule yet though.
Eating - I nurse Eva every 3 hours. We don't really do bottles (average about once a month) because the nursing is going so well. Last time she had a bottle, it was 3oz, but now she's bigger, I should probably be giving her 4oz. We have not started solids yet.
Likes - swings, smiling, shoving her fist in her mouth, mommy, Ethan, hugs, kisses
Dislikes - prolonged tummy time, not being the center of attention
New tricks - Eva FINALLY rolled over the day before her 4 month birthday! She doesn't do it super often, but I think it's because she has trouble getting her fat arm underneath her big head (which measured at the 75th percentile!). She can "sit" sometimes, and by sitting I mean she can balance herself for a few seconds. She also LOVES talking with you and will happily talk the day away!

I think this upcoming month we'll be working on the rolling, sitting and maybe establishing more of a daytime routine!

And for the best part of these monthly posts, pictures!

Little Miss Chatterbox

Can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my last blog post! To make up for the break, I have an extra special video of everyone's favorite little girl chatting up a storm.

Eva will happily talk your ear off if you let her - she has so much to say these days! If you catch her at the right time, she will have such a good conversation with you.

Please enjoy!

3 months!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in over a month! I blame Diablo 3 :P

Eva has grown so much in the past month, yet has retained all her newborn cuteness. She is awake a lot now and likes interacting with people. She is happiest when you're playing with her - if you're lucky you get a big gummy drooly smile and some cooing!

Weight - around 11 lbs
Clothes - we are finally in 3 month clothes! The newborn clothes still fit, but can be a little snug, especially with cloth diapers!
Diapers - still size 1 disposables and the smallest setting for cloth
Sleep - what a good little sleeper we have! At around 2.5 months, Eva started sleeping through the night. This isn't every night, but is often enough to spoil me when she does, and annoy me when she doesn't. She is still a good girl when I put her down in the middle of the night. None of the nurse for an hour, scream for an hour stuff Ethan put us through! We are sleeping in our crib again though!
Eating - still averaging about 3 hours between feedings and on 3oz bottles, but Eva prefers her milk fresh from mommy. So does mommy - no pump parts or bottle parts to wash!
Likes - we are starting to like bath time now she is taking baths in the bathtub and not the sink/sponge baths. LOVES being outside, playing with Ethan, ceiling fans, colorful lamps, Uncle Mohi (daddy's coworker), peekaboo!
Dislikes - tummy time, bottles, strangers
New tricks - stranger danger, or people she hasn't seen in awhile also fall into this category

2 months old!

Another month goes by and our little girly is another month older! Here's all the vitals...

Weight - 10lbs (28%), I was so sure Eva would be heavier. Ethan was 10lb 4oz at his 2 month checkup.
Height - 20 3/4 in (4%)

Clothes - newborn, she could probably start wearing her 3 month outfits, but I'm still in denial :P
Diapers - size 1 disposeables and the smallest setting for cloth
Sleep - nighttime sleeping is still going well. When we put her down the first time, she usually throws a fit, but she does go promptly back to sleep after her midnight feedings. She's slept as long as nearly 7 hours, but nothing too consistent yet. We typically get a good 5 hour stretch, followed by a 3-4 hour stretch.
Eating - averages about 3 hours between feedings. We're up to 3oz bottles but Eva prefers her milk fresh from the tap!

Likes - being held, play mat, stroller rides, shopping with mommy, pooping for daddy (just ask Chris), smiling at Ethan
Dislikes - diaper changes, bath time, sleeping in her crib (I really need to work on this one!),bottles
New tricks - this one is really new, but Eva likes pulling her blanket over her head (we cover her with a light blanket because she hated being swaddled) like she's playing peekaboo - I need to get a picture of this one!

A post isn't complete without pictures!

Easter Festivities

Egg decorating, egg hunts, farm visits, Easter bunnies...Ethan and Eva had a good Easter!

Our family goes to Heritage Prairie Farm almost every Saturday for the farmer's market - the weekend before Easter, they had an egg decorating event as well, so we took Ethan! Ethan was very good with the dyes and following directions - he was very careful in picking just the right color :)

A little blue
A little yellow
A little green
The 3 eggs in front are my boy's!
The Wednesday before Easter, Whole Foods had an Easter egg hunt, so I took Ethan! He was a little bit confused because he kept trying to pull groceries off the shelf, but luckily mommy found a stash of eggs for him. At first I was avoiding the Easter bunny (thinking of past very bad encounters with Santa Claus, McGruff the crime dog, Curious George and various other costumed characters), but Ethan was insistent on meeting "that big bunny", so we waited our turn and it was great! Ethan hugged the bunny, gave him a high five - all without tears.
Waiting in line like a good boy

Since Ethan had so much fun at the farm decorating eggs, I bought a little dye kit and decorated them at home. Again, Ethan was very good about following directions and I didn't have a mess to clean up.
Sporting one of Eva's clips (put in with Chris's okay - trying to keep his hair out of his eyes!)
Very carefully putting the egg in the green dye
7 very beautifully decorated Easter eggs
For Easter this year, we went out to Grandma and Grandpa Barber's for dinner and a mini Easter egg hunt in their family room.

Sleepy princess pre grandparents
Busy hunting eggs - once we explained the color coding (each kid had 2 colors), he was very good about giving the colored eggs to the right person!
